Thumbs up Snooker Break 147

Five professional Snooker players - Andrew Hamond, Hugh Payne, Lawrence Talbot, Michael Coterel, and Ralph Pratt - each of a different age against a different opponent in a different year and in a different competition have achieved, under normal circumstances, the maximum break of 147.

The players’ ages were 24, 25, 28, 33, and 35.

The years were 1982, 1983, 1984, 1987, and 1988.

The opponents were Alan Gyfford, Arnald Denys, Edmond Godfrey, Peter Williams, and Thomas Fysher.

The competitions were the Freyburn Masters, the Lochmarsh Open, the Springley All-comers’, the Stonebank Championships, and the Windbush Classic

The players, players’ ages, years, opponents, and competitions do not necessarily relate to each other in the order listed.

From this information and the following clues, for each player, can you determine his age, the year in which he achieved the break, his opponent, and the competition in which he achieved the break?

1) The youngest player achieved the break in the Windbush Classic.
2) The opponent in 1983 was Arnald Denys in the Lochmarsh Open.
3) Hugh Payne was the second youngest player to achieve the break in the Stonebank Championships.
4) The Freyburn Masters was the competition in which either Lawrence Talbot or the 28 years old player achieved the break.
5) Michael Coterel’s opponent was Thomas Fysher in 1982.
6) Neither the youngest nor the second youngest player played against Alan Gyfford in 1987 in the Freyburn Masters.
7) Peter Williams was the opponent of neither Hugh Payne nor Ralph Pratt in 1988.
8) Andrew Hamond achieved the break in the Springley All-comers’ five years after the oldest player.
9) Ralph Pratt did not play in the Freyburn Masters.
