![]() I notice some ppl use the comment section after a puzzle.
I'm wondering what they mean since they don't sound coherent such as, !guess or guess! 1wrong/1correct What do these comments mean? Why are they always the same comments? I never see ppl post the times they scored in or other puzzle stats, just these strange ones. |

![]() Thanks.
What do you mean by - they guessed rather then "First!"? What does !guess mean? They guessed their way through the whole puzzle? Why is there usually an exclamation mark before the word guess? (I notice this a lot) First! means what? They solved without error on the first try? I appreciate comments, I'd thought about leaving some, it's just the lingo I don't understand. Thanks again, what you said about how many they got wrong or right makes sense. |

![]() One comment I've left a couple of times is in reference to grammar mistakes. There are a few puzzles where the clues ought to say "3 months", for example, but instead say "3 month". Also, at times the gender of the person in the clues is obvious, but the clue will say "Nora had chocolate for their third scoop", e.g. It's not a big deal, but it often grates when I hear it in my head

![]() Just a comment on their. It's actually not uncommon to see "their" used in logic problems as a singular non-gender pronoun. It is equivalent to saying "his or her" when the gender is unknown (and that is listed in some dictionary definitions). Putting a gendered pronoun (her or his) could lead to clues that let us eliminate all the male or female sounding names because "The 3rd person had peppermint for her first scoop."

![]() i've wondered same thing but rarely do I even see a comment. i've played many puzzles so I wonder if comments are mostly in certain categories. I play mostly 4x6 and 4x7.

![]() Thanks for the replies everyone.
yv - I like the 4x5's, I find a lot of comments on them which are easy to miss since they're usually one word comments. |

![]() I'm 99% sure that "!guess" is shorthand for "didn't guess". In C++ and probably other programming languages the exclamation point is the same as "does not equal"
