Question Comments

Would it possible to add comments to specific puzzles? It might be useful to note that a puzzle was difficult because 8:30 pm was above 8:00 pm or that too similar clues mixed me up.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've added this to my list - I think it might be useful for folks to share comments about particular puzzles after they've been completed.

Cheers -

Default Comments feature

I would advocate that any such comments be visible only after the player has completed (or given up on) the puzzle. Getting warnings about confusing clues while working on the puzzle, to my way of thinking, somewhat invalidates the competition aspect of the site.

Or, have it be like the help feature. If you access the comments before finishing the puzzle, the puzzle will not be counted in your win totals.

Yes, comments will definitely be a "post-game" feature only - a way for players to share their triumphs and frustrations, and point out any possible problems in the puzzle so that I can jump in and fix 'em. :-)

Here's an example: I just finished a puzzle with the following names: Danica, Haley, Hayley, Kaylie & Tiffany. That was a real challenge getting the correct column while reading those names sideways!
That did force me to be careful, which I'll admit that if I did every time, I could get them right the first time & end up with a higher score.

But I do enjoy these puzzles. I see more categories showing up lately. Thanks for the work you've put into this site.

Also, thanks for linking to ieSpell. That's been useful for other forums & applications.

Lightbulb Grid

I think the words at the top shouldn't be written sideways, it should be from the top down like:
c | v
h | a
o | n
c | i
l | l
a | l
t | a
e

It's too hard to read things printed sideways

Default sideways words

I disagree. I just about went cross-eyed trying to read that vertically. I'd MUCH rather read the words sideways.
